Sir Henry Parkes was known as the Father of Federation,he first proposed a federal council body which is where the Governor Generals meet up and have a meeting. Again he brought it up at a conference but SA, NSW and VIC all had concerns about becoming a country. in 1883 he brought it up and it was successful.

Alfred Deakin definitely was a supporter of Federation, he first had interest in 1887 at a colonial conference in London Deakin spoke out against the Colonial Office and against British foreign policy in the Pacific, much to the horrified surprise of many of the delegates. His was the only memorable speech at the conference which was also noteworthy. Deakin returned to Australia having scored a major personal success, determined to now give his energy to the cause of Australian Federation.
Sir Edmund Barton was an early supporter of federation, Barton attended many of the conventions and conferences on federation that took place throughout the 1890s. He was an active participant in drafting the new constitution and in making sure the conventions ran smoothly. At the community level, Barton gave many speeches in support of federation. He liked the idea of the federation movement being something that many Australian people and communities would be a part of.
